(i)as regards Japan, the laws and regulations of Japan relating to pension schemes referred to in article 2(1)(a), with the exception of those adopted for the implementation of other social security agreements similar to those similar to this Agreement, and 3. Nothing in this Agreement shall affect the rights and obligations arising from European Union law or the EEA Agreement or from social security agreements or conventions concluded by a Party with a third party, but shall not prevent any Party from adopting, in the context of the implementation of this Agreement, the provisions of such an agreement or convention concluded by that Party with a third party: to be taken into account. The Japanese government is seeking a similar deal with Australia, after agreeing in principle to a status-of-forces pact at bilateral talks in November last year. “We believe that (the agreement) will help further strengthen cooperation between our two countries as we work towards achieving a free and open Indo-Pacific,” Motegi said. As regards the insurance obligation of a person working as an employed or self-employed person in the territory of one or more third countries while pursuing an activity as an employed or self-employed person in the territory of one or both contracting parties, where the legislation of one of the Contracting Parties referred to in Articles 4 to 7 does not apply to that person and that legislation is applicable to that person in accordance with to the provisions of another agreement or understanding concerning: social security or a social security scheme under European Union law or the EEA Agreement, comparable to this Agreement, to which that Party is a party, the laws of both Parties shall apply without prejudice to other provisions of this Agreement.
(iii)the mutual assistance pension for national officials; 5. A person who receives benefits under Japanese laws and regulations due to illness, injury or pregnancy during any period in Jersey or Guernsey is exempt from the obligation to pay a contribution for that period, except as an employed or self-employed person, under the legislation of Jersey or Guernsey. Subject to Articles 6 and 7, where a person insured under the legislation of a Party and employed by an employer established in the territory of that Party is posted by that employer, either from the territory of that Party or from a third country, to work in the territory of the other Party, that person shall be subject only to the legislation of the first Party: as if that person were working in the territory of that Party, provided that the duration of such replacement should not exceed five years […].
